Not just the nature makes a trip to the Harz worth wile. Culturally the region has lots to offer you. Visit old castles medieval cities with timbered houses and overwhelming cathedrals. we would love to give you some tips, away from the usual track.

The cave dwellings in Langenstein. Half hidden in the rocks, you find some strange looking houses. Most of them can be entered. Until the beginning of last centery the houses were inhabited. The centuries old street leads to the place where the casstle used to be. There was a lot of mining in the Eastharz. A few of them are opened for public. With a small train you take a ride in the small tunnels and in the deep you will be explaned how they mined the mountains untill recently. Guests who like plays and musicals can visit the Harzer Mountaintheatre. From your seat you have a magnificent view over the lower parts of the Harz. Many churches and cathedrals present concerts. Between Treseburg and Stolberg lies the Auersmountain. On top of the mountain you will find the Josepfscross, hidden in the woods. From the era the Eifeltower was build it has an unique feature. It is a double cross, quit rare. More will follow shortly. |
